The PE Premium was introduced in 2013 and funding was allocated to schools in the November of this year. The funding was designed to ensure PE and sports are at the heart of school life raising the achievement of all young people. The funding was allocated through a lump sum for each school and per pupil top up mechanism. At Lostwithiel Primary School we aim to ensure a high quality physical education and school sport experience makes a positive impact on young people’s physical, social and cognitive development, their wellbeing and level of achievement. In order to do this the school has reflected upon the opportunities it provides children and sought to offer a more structured and increased range of physical education activities throughout the school day. Our provision offers children a range of breaktime activities from free play with play equipment chosen by school council to focused games and coordination skills. Our Year 6 'Stay Safe Mentors' also led games at lunchtime for the younger children.
We purchased the Champions PE scheme to ensure progressive coverage in all areas of physical education. You can see the overview of this below.
