We're delighted to share some exciting news as we return for a new school year... Following our Ofsted inspection in June, we are incredibly proud to have been recognised for the exceptional experiences our children receive every day. Inspectors praised the "exceptional care, support and expertise" of our staff and, in a wholesome statement, noted that our pupils "simply love coming to school." In a report filled with positive feedback, our Attendance and Behaviour were judged 'Exceptional' – the highest possible grading awarded to only 2% of schools nationally. This achievement is a testament to our incredible children and the families who support them every step of the way. Thank you for being part of our success story. The report also celebrates pupils' personal development and wellbeing, the strong outcomes achieved by pupils, and the expert support provided to children who need additional help, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed. This recognition belongs to all of us. To our wonderful children who make us proud every day, to our dedicated staff, to our supportive families, and to everyone who plays a part in our school community- we say an enormous THANK YOU! We have always believed that Lostwithiel is a very special place, and it means so much to see that reflected in this report. And we're back!! We are so pleased to welcome so many of you to Lostwithiel Primary School for the first time today, and to welcome back all those of you who are already part of our school family. Our team has been working hard over the summer to make this a fantastic start to what promises to be an exceptional school year. With support from our trust, we've introduced a new approach to reading in KS2, engaged in fantastic training, and given our dining room a revamp! So, whether you're at the start of your journey with us or somewhere along the way, I know your children will settle quickly into school life and enjoy everything we have in store for them this year. Our first newsletter will be sent on Friday 11th September on Dojo. Class newsletters will also be sent to you by that date. Thank you for supporting such a positive start to the school year today. We pride ourselves on parental engagement and I am truly looking forward to getting know all our new families, as well as reconnecting with everyone else. With warmest wishes, Elaine Badger Headteacher

What a way to finish a fantastic year of oracy! Last night saw the grand finale of our Chatterfest competition, where pupils delivered powerful speeches on the theme "If I Could Change the World in One Way." From ending plastic pollution and teaching kindness as a school subject, to improving mental health provision and ensuring every child has the right to an education, our competitors chose topics close to their hearts and spoke with passion, courage and conviction. Their words moved our audience on more than one occasion and showcased the confidence, empathy and communication skills that have been developed through our commitment to oracy. We are incredibly proud of every child who took part. Their voices reminded us all of the difference young people can make when they are given the opportunity to speak and be heard. A huge thank you to our judges, Anna Iliffe and Simon Pollard. Faced with such thoughtful and inspiring speeches, choosing between them was no easy task! #Voice21 #CentreOfExcellence #OracyEducation #StudentVoice #Chatterfest #ProudSchool #FutureLeaders #SpeakingAndListening #Education #LostwithielSchool
