Welcome to Apple Tree Class. We are delighted to welcome all of the new Reception children to Lostwithiel Primary School.
Pretend play is an integral part of childhood and learning. Positive relationship, talk and making up stories are key.
Collaboration, creativity, imagination, inventiveness, problem-solving, coordination and physical strength are all developed.
Allow children to go at their own pace, giving them the time they need to explore, manipulate, discover, and practise newly acquired skills.
Children express their thoughts, ideas and feelings through lots of symbols; words, tunes, body language, use of space or things they create.
We help children to convey what they are thinking or feeling, and show their knowledge and understanding of the world and their place in it.
Children don’t just learn about nature, they learn through engagement with nature.
For children, play is never trivial. It is deeply serious: it’s the most important resource to help children grow, learn and connect with people
Children first learn to listen, to speak, to sing, to enjoy rhymes, stories, and books before they can read or write.
Watching isn’t a passive activity; it is a time when the mind is whirring with realisations and ideas!
