PE at Lostwithiel School
PE Curriculum Intent
At Lostwithiel Primary School we aim to ensure a high quality physical education and school sport experience makes a positive impact on young people’s physical, social and cognitive development, their wellbeing and level of achievement. In order to do this the school has reflected upon the opportunities it provides children and sought to offer a more structured and increased range of physical education activities throughout the school day. Our provision offers children a range of breaktime activities from free play with play equipment chosen by school council to focused games and coordination skills. Our Year 6 'Stay Safe Mentors' also led games at lunchtime for the younger children.
We purchased the Rising Stars Champions PE scheme to ensure progressive coverage in all areas of physical education. Mr Mitchell is our dedicated Sports Coach, ensuring we delivery high quality and engaging sports lessons for all. Mrs Vicky Brown teaches weekly yoga sessions in our school. These lessons focus on flexibility and mindfulness and offer a different sport for our learners to experience. One Year 5 pupil said: "I love our yoga sessions, I hadn't tried yoga before but I really like the time to concentrate and try the different poses".
